excerpt from cherry cola

An excerpt of poems from my newest book, Cherry Cola.

1

she kept her heartache

on a hook, displayed like art

in a museum

2

those tears in your eyes

after all those silences -

those tears are mine now.

3

night then morning

i used to stay up to see

the sun; now i sleep.

4

i talk too much when

i’m nervous and too quiet

when happy - it’s weird

5

when the sun rises

i turn over - pull you close

bargain for more sleep

6

not yet afternoon

but not morning anymore

i feel the sun shine

7

shadow follows me

she follows me everywhere

only wants to love me

8

i see and i hear

the wind move through the tall trees

louder every day
