Mommy

My mom, in the 60s.

Things my mom has done for me:

Given me life.

Given me a little sister with a big personality.

Given me a good life, by leaving my abusive father, saying goodbye to everyone she ever knew in Brooklyn, and moving to Evansville, Indiana so my sister and I could have a chance for something better.

Given my husband a cheerleader (because he didn't exactly marry Little Miss Optimist).

Given my children a loving and fun grandmother.

Given me this text on New Year's day, after spending New Year's Eve at her place drinking and playing cards:

She could never embarrass me, because she's the greatest.

My mommy is the best mommy, ever.

This post is part of a Blogging A To Z series where I write a new, personal story almost every day (except Sundays). The theme is the hidden messages: the language of flowers.
